Well, as we all know life can be a little bit challenging at times. Especially when you’re an artist as we tend to be very sensitive creatures. But the pressure & challenge increases further when you’re a professional artist & creative.

So originally I wanted an anonymous, safe, none commercial creative space to freely express & vent!

But then cancel culture etc was, and is booming so I wanted it anonymous. I suppose it was fear of upsetting people & dealing with the negative energy & backlash. As mentioned us artists are sensitive souls but it was this fear holding me back from truly expressing at times.

Well the anonymity is gone out the window because of two reasons and they’re best explained in my two favourite quotes

i dont want my fear of something happening to stop me from truly living.White.Laird hamilt

So Forksy and Forking Art.com were born as a place for me to let loose creative, artistic and linguistic expression. And also as a place to home some orphaned creativity I had archived.

As for the word usage, well it suited for a variety of reasons. The first being I love the closeness in sound between the word ‘fork’ & ‘fuck’ to bypass, play with and poke the language censorship gap etc. It meant I could cheekily play a lot more, especially in a media & social media context.

Secondly visual taste is still just a taste & appetite that varies. As does its creation. I do feel like I cook up visuals to some degree, I always have across a spectrum of visual creativity and I've never been one for wanting to spend my whole life making, prepping and refining just one or two dishes. Who does? But the artworld was very funny & fickle about this for years, I was just waiting for it to change. Which fortunately it seems to have now!

Lastly the name was also a very respectful tip of the hat to Banksy. An incredible and inspiring urban artist & visual communicator. His ability to execute what he’s saying is very hard to do.
