ABOUT THE ARTWORK - Russell works in free form to create his images. The method is a similar to how Henry Moore sculpted. You start painting or sketching and have no pre set finished aesthetic in mind, you grow and evolve the image outwards until it reaches its conclusion, because it evolves and unfolds in front of the artist devout of any pre conceived subject matter then the ‘subject matter’ becomes the subconscious, and therefor falls into the category of Surrealism. ‘Colour is evolving into my work!’

“I’ve surrendered in my arguments with colour and now it is definitely muscling into the artistic relationship with a beautiful new dimension. I always wondered when it would grace us with its presence! With mixed feelings I’m pleased to say that a great amount of experimenting is taking place with it and has been over the last few months. This is why there are limited new works at present but they’re very nearly ready to be shown!”

 Following on from a hugely successful solo exhibition on London’s famous Embankment at the gallery@oxo, art critics are now labelling Russell Scott-Skinner as ‘One to watch in the art world!’ His painting and photography work has been featured on the BBC and with strong press recognition, his success as an artist is rapidly increasing both in the UK and internationally. LATEST EXHIBITION-‘Distracting The Colour’  was Russell’s most recent solo exhibition which ran for 3 weeks at the gallery@oxo on London’s Embankment. The exhibition proudly raised £1000 for the charity ‘Beat Bullying’ with his latest artwork & photography being very well received with positive features on the BBC, financial times & from the many critics, bloggers and journalists that attended the private view evening. When the doors opened to the public the response was equally as positive. With over 2,500 people visiting the exhibition over two and a half weeks. The artist was ‘humbled by the response and effect the work seemed to have on people, & also how far or to what lengths people had gone to in visiting the exhibition.’

‘James Whale Fund Anniversary Ball.’ Plaza Park Hotel, London. The event raised vital funds to support the James Whale Fund as it celebrated its 5th Anniversary and continues to work on behalf of kidney cancer patients throughout the UK. LBC Radio presenter James Whale hosted the evening and one of Russell’s original pieces was auctioned and raised £2,800 for the charity. Barts and The London RAG Charity Art Auction

The Great Hall, 09/02/2012 to 09/02/2012  (Time 5.30 - 9.00pm)

On the 9th of February 2012 a Silent Art Auction with live Classical Music will be taking place in the Great Hall of Barts Hospital in aid of The Charity. The evening aims to raise over £10,000 to purchase two Cystic Fibrosis Vests. Russell will be attending the event and one of his originals will be auctioned to help the hospital. The evening starts at 5.30 till 9 and is free entry for all guests.
