“Why should we have to use our memory to remember a person's character, their lives,
who they are and what was happening when we look at a photo of them. I want in my
hand something that a stranger could look at and they would be able to feel who that
person, family or group is at the point in time when the imagery was created. It
needs to show character, mannerisms, interaction, location and those all important
idiosyncrasies.”
Russell Scott-Skinner
Thoughts behind the body of photographic work that will feature at the next exhibition
Following a hugely successful solo exhibition on London’s famous Embankment critics
are now labelling Russell Scott-Skinner as ‘One to watch in the art world!’ His
artwork sales and commissions are rapidly increasing both in the UK and internationally
and over the last 3 months his work has raised nearly £4,000 for charity. As an artist
he has developed his own personal visual language that critics and collectors alike
label as ‘truly unique, and not seen before.’ A phrase that is very rare in the art
world today.
NEWS-‘Distracting The Colour’ wasRussell’s most recent solo exhibition which ran
for 3 weeks at the gallery@oxo on London’s Embankment. The exhibition proudly raised
£1000 for the charity ‘Beat Bullying’ with his latest artwork & photography being
very well received with positive features on the BBC, financial times & from the
many critics, bloggers and journalists that attended the private view evening. When
the doors opened to the public the response was equally as positive. With over 2,500
people visiting the exhibition over two and a half weeks. The artist was ‘humbled
by the response and effect the work seemed to have on people, & also how far or to
what lengths people had gone to in visiting the exhibition.’
P H O T O G R A P H Y - ‘Portrait Photographic work to feature in next exhibition!’
Photography has always provided artists with a beautiful medium and tool to use as
an extension of their eye. It enables them to be able to draw attention to a split
second in time, painting it through light and casting a mirror back onto the world
from their own personal perspective.
Chris Tarrant will be hosting the evening and one of Russell’s original pieces is
being auctioned to raise money for the charity. Russell will be attendingalongside
hundreds of guests including celebrities from the world of broadcasting and TV. (James
Whale, Benn Barham, Max Clifford, Lizzie Cundy, Martine Mclcutcheon, Lord Jeffery
